About me

I’m Deputy Rector for Promotion & Marketing and Associate Professor of Marketing & Management at the University of Catania, Italy. I hold a Ph.D. in Management and a Laurea Degree in Business Economics from the same University. I held a visiting position as research scholar at the Mays Business School, College Station, Texas A&M University, (US). I teach Marketing and Digital Marketing to undergraduate and graduate students.

My research interests centre on three main and distinct streams. One stream is based on marketing and consumer behaviour. These studies examine the role of affection and attachment to stores, factors affecting store brands purchasing and consumer resistance. The second stream is based on competitive dynamics, firm’s coopetitive strategy and innovation and examines the technological positioning of competitors and its interaction with firm strategy and performance. The third stream is about the evolution of the different theories and paradigms in the field of business and management trough bibliometric methods.

My work has been presented at international conferences including the Academy of Management, the Strategic Management Society, the European Academy of Management, the European Academy of Marketing, the American Marketing Association and the Italian Marketing Society and has appeared in several books and international journals such as European Journal of MarketingManaging Service Quality (now published as Journal of Service Theory and Practice), Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research and Scientometrics.

Last but not least, I am father of two wonderful boys: Riccardo e Ruggero.
